I just read through your complete blog. Congrats on deciding to get healthy. I made the same decision last August. I was 265 lbs and had no energy. I really enjoy hunting and it was difficult(impossible) to get out and walk up and down the mountains. I first started counting calories using “my fitness pal” app on iphone. I got my portions in control and started seeing weight loss. Sept was my 25th wedding anniversay and my wife and I bought ourselves comfort bikes for riding in the evening. The first time out was brutal. All we could do was about 3 miles and our butts hurt so bad we had to stop. Slowly we got our butts acustomed to the seats and were riding 10-16 miles an evening. Then winter (southern Alberta Canada) came along and no loger able to ride our bikes. I purchased a Lemonds exercise bike so I could continue riding bike. The first time I rode this bike I thought that it was a waste of money as my butt hurt so bad after 5 minutes I couldnt ride anymore. I bit the bullet and climbed on that bike everyday and rode as much as I could. Now I can ride for more than 1-1/2 hours. I am now down to about 209 lbs and still need to lose about 20-30 more lbs. I went from 44″ waist pants to 38″. I have way more energy and feel great.
There has been platueas and even weight gains during this time but I am committed this time to do it for life and the slower the weight loss the better. I feel it will be easier to keep it off if I dont make any drastic changes all at once.
Good luck and keep up the great work.
