Yesterday was in the low fifties with high winds.  It won’t be long before the temperatures stabilize and I can get on the bike.  This is the first time in my life that I’ve thought about moving to some place like New Mexico.  It would be great to cycle year round.

As I’ve talked about before, I’ve never traveled much.  I was on Google Maps last night looking at Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with street view.  I’m already doing some serious bike touring in my mind.

Day 42: Summary Week 6

This is the first week that I haven’t lost weight and actually gained a little.  It has essentially been a plateau week.  I’m not concerned.  This weight loss plan is long-term and the goal of the weekly summaries is to keep me on track.  I’m still three pounds down for the month and my monthly goal is eight pounds so I’m still on track.  I am not going to allow anything to defeat me.  I will stay motivated.

The sun has been out but it has been cold.  As it warms I realize that if I had cold weather gear I could be out on my bike.  The saying goes, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.

I had planned to get winter gear around this time of  year but I am frugal and since I plan to lose over one third of my body weight I can’t justify it for a month extra or riding.  In the fall when the weight is gone and I have miles on my legs I will get the gear and extend the season.  I know what I want and will get it.

Day 39: Honey Boo Boo’s Mom

As you know, I’m trying to drop 100 pounds.  I just saw on the web that Honey Boo Boo’s mom lost 100 pounds.    She went from 365 to a svelte 263.  They have the photo to prove it.

For some reason, reading the article made me sad.  Hope after losing my weight my looks actually improve.  Read the article.  All I can say is, good for her.

Had very little sleep the past few days due to my mom’s cancer.  I can feel the water weight gain.  This should pass soon.  No worries.

Down 19.2 pounds in five weeks.  I’m very happy.

Motivation is still strong.  The snow is deep outside and I dream of Spring and cycling.  If I can do this well with restriction of calories imagine how much better it will be when I’m on the bike every day.

As a rule I don’t eat breakfast.  Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day but four days a week I take my mom to doctors, chemo or to see her friends and that means getting up, quick shower and some coffee before I’m off.  This deep into my lifestyle change I find I don’t really get hungry until I drop her off at 1pm.  Then I come home, make a sensible lunch and drink lots of water.

I have friends who tell me that you have to eat breakfast in order to lose weight.  So far it hasn’t stopped me.  I found this article on the web about dieting myths.  Check it out.
